Opportunities-Obstacles Quotient Profile (QO2)
€250.00
Is your glass half-empty or half-full? The Opportunities-Obstacles Quotient Profile looks at people’s approach to risk and determines the balance of effort put into seeing the opportunities and obstacles at work. Some people have a higher risk acceptance than others and may see only the opportunities, often ignoring the obstacles. Others may be risk averse and see only the obstacles, ignoring the possibilities of new projects or ventures.
Description
What Is QO₂?
The Opportunities-Obstacles Quotient (QO₂) Profile gauges how individuals balance their perception of opportunity versus obstacles in the workplace—essentially, whether they lean toward risk acceptance or risk aversion. Think: is your glass half full or half empty?
This assessment is grounded in the Risk-Orientation Model, which includes five key dimensions:
- MTG Energy – drive toward goals
- Multi-Pathways – ability to find alternative routes when faced with obstacles
- Optimism – expectation of positive outcomes
- Fault-Finding – noticing potential problems
- Time-Focus – orientation toward past, present, or future
Participants receive an overall QO₂ score reflecting how much more likely they are to see opportunities versus obstacles (e.g. a score of 2.7 means 2.7× more opportunity-oriented).
Why It Matters – Benefits for Individuals and Teams
- Strategic insight into risk orientation: Learn how different team members respond to change, uncertainty, and novelty.
- Enhance decision-making and resilience: The profile supports improved problem-solving, goal clarification, and adaptability.
- Balance optimists and cautious thinkers: A mix of opportunity-seekers and obstacle-spotters helps prevent either reckless decisions or inertia.
- Strong psychometric foundation: Endorsed by the British Psychological Society for high face validity in team development and change contexts.
Typical applications include:
- Leadership and management development
- Change and innovation initiatives
- Conflict resolution and performance coaching
- Strategic decision-making and resilience building
